Eyes closed as I sing praises to my Heavenly Father, I feel someone softly touch my arm. I open my eyes to see Jenny standing before me. Her green eyes surrendered to tears reflect her heart as she looks up at me and says, “I’m ready. I’m ready to be God’s daughter.”

God works in the hearts of His children through the power of His Holy Spirit. Though I cannot foresee the work of the Lord, I believe He prepares my soul to receive His commands.

In John 10:27 Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

On the surface there was nothing to compel Jenny to give her life to Christ, but deep inside her she heard God calling. Jenny heard the voice of the Lord and she answered.

Praise God Jenny answered and trusted Him with her life. Praise God that summer night Jenny walked from death into life.

God prepared Jenny’s heart to receive Him. Jenny embraced the Lord’s call to come and follow Him. Not knowing what this eternal transformation might bring, Jenny trusted God.

Something changed in me that night as I saw such a pure desire in Jenny to belong to Jesus.

Just as a husband does not stop pursuing his wife after their wedding ceremony, so Christ does not stop pursuing His bride after He redeems her.

When I was seven years old, the Lord took me by the hand and invited me to follow Him on an adventure of falling in love with Him more each morning.

The thing about love is it overwhelms our soul. Love makes us do things we never imagined.

God’s love empowers us to follow Him on this journey filled with surprises.

As children of God, our life is not a standstill – it is a walk with Christ.

What step is God inviting you to take now?

Do you trust Him to walk with you? Do you believe He has prepared your heart to see this unique opportunity at such a time as this? Does your faith in God weigh on what might happen after you take this step, or does your faith in God weigh on what He has already done?

My prayer is that when God invites us to keep walking with Him into this beautiful mystery that we would respond just as Jenny did by saying, “I’m ready.”
